MIND Milano

An innovation district dedicated to life sciences

Milan Innovation District - MIND

MIND-Milan Innovation District is the first district of its kind in Italy dedicated to innovation and life sciences, it represents the city of the future.

This exciting and forward-thinking development combines education, creativity, research, cultural and commercial activities and aims to support cultural and economic growth in Italy. The masterplan for the project was devised by a consortium led by Lendlease and we were delighted to have been specified for this project by international landscape consultancy, LAND.

The Herbula Wild Garden

WoodBlocX raised planters form part of MIND’s Herbula Wild Garden, a temporary space where residents of MIND and the wider community, such as schools and colleges, can explore urban biodiversity.

The project uses a series of long rectangular WoodBlocX modular timber planters. Each planter can be dismantled, repurposed and rebuilt as the space evolves, making them ideal for temporary projects of this nature.

A city of the future

This 97-ha site is constantly evolving, and by utilising green infrastructure and nature-based solutions, including the addition of permeable soils and the planting of more than 3000 trees, the project aims to absorb 225,000 of Co2 every year. We are pleased to have played a part in this innovative scheme.
