Creating a sensory garden for a Lincolnshire school

Sensory garden centrepiece

An inner courtyard garden at Winchelsea Primary School has been transformed into a sensory space for pupils with the centrepiece being a circular raised planter bordered by two curved planters to complement the range of interactive sensory features included within the overall design of the garden created by Senteq.

Each planter has been designed at a height which is easily accessible for youngsters and planted with a wide variety of fragrant herbs

Curved planter designs

Curved planters are popular choices for schools and other educational settings, softening spaces to create natural and fluid shapes.

Being a modular system means we are able to create curved designs across all of our structures, including raised planters, street furniture and retaining walls. From full circle shapes to curved sides, it can all be achieved using WoodBlocX.

The natural choice

Using a natural material like wood for sensory gardens helps to enhance the space by helping us feel closer to nature. It’s texture is natural and comforting and has been proven to create better conditions for learning which makes it an ideal material to use in schools.

All of our structures are made from sustainably sourced Scots pine harvested by us and is FSC certified, with 80% being sourced from sustainably managed forests within a 30-mile radius of our sawmill.
